Welcome to the CES Dublin summer schools! We want you to have a great time and learn how to speak English, and find out more about Irish culture.
In lessons you will meet new students from across the world. During the course you will make new friends and discover more about other countries as well as Ireland.
Lessons are all different and you will have fun learning new things. Our teachers are friendly and want to get to know you. At the end of each week, you will complete a project which you can keep and share with family and friends when you return home. Can you put some photos of classes next to this?
We believe that learning a language should be fun! Our CES syllabus is designed to give you the opportunity to practice the English you already know, and to support you to develop in a fun and encouraging environment. The classes will have lots of group activities and you will have the chance to work with students from other countries and make new friends.
When you are in class you will study many interesting topics to help improve your skills and understanding of the world outside of the classroom. These include:
Irish culture
21st Century skills e.g. teambuilding and life skills
Project work and presentation skills
Study skills
Your course also includes lots of fun and interesting visits to places in Cork. Your teachers will introduce these to you in the classroom and you will be given the opportunity to talk about the places you have visited, and learn more about the stories behind them.
Speaking is the main focus in the lessons, supported by activities that develop grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary. Students also practise listening, reading and writing skills.
You will also have project lessons! These project lessons are fun and mean you can be creative. Each week there will be a new project, and you will work in groups to learn and research about the topic. On Friday in the second lesson, you will present your information and cheer on your classmates as well!
When and where is my class?
While studying at the Technological University of Dublin, you will study at the 'East Quad' building which is a two minute walk from your accommodation! Your classes will take place from 9.30am - 11am and 11.15am - 12.45pm.
